Bee-coming Me!

I used to begin each day cataloguing worries before I’d even stretched my toes.
Then one quiet dawn, a memory—equal parts dazzling and tender—landed like a honeybee on my bedcovers, reminding me how thin the veil between ordinary life and pure wonder really is.
One night, a few years ago, I lay in hospital, exhausted by my gruelling blood cancer treatment... From my hospital bed, I whispered to my inner guides - my unseen helpers I’ve trusted since childhood: “Over to you.”
What happened next felt like floating—no, dissolving—into iridescent dust. Time melted. I understood, without words, that every'thing' and every'one' is woven from the same luminous thread. I could stay in that bliss, or return and finish what I’d begun on the physica plane of existence.
I chose to return, and woke up in my hospital bed —wires, beeps, fluorescent lights—and laughed. Not because the situation was funny, but because I was alive, and suddenly that was enough... I knew that I would recover from this and that just by being authentic and to just Be me would be enough.
I’m not here to sell tickets to the afterlife. Most of us will (thankfully!) never need a dramatic wake-up call. What my detour beyond the curtain did teach me is this:
Joy lives in the in-between moments—enjoying a coffee with loved ones, walking the dog, posting silly instagram posts.
I love this quote: 'Enjoy the little things in life: One day they may be the big things.' The “small stuff” really is small, and it’s uplifting to write it down, especially on days when the big things seem overwhelming.
Laughter is medicine that works instantly, no prescription required.
If my story whispers anything to you today, remember to 'just Be'. Give yourself permission to 'be' before the world starts to shout to you to 'do'... Follow the hobby you shelved, start a journal noting down the 'little things', dance in the kitchen, book the class. Your guides, angels, intuition—whatever you call that loving nudge—are there, cheering you onwards, if you take time to listen and 'just Be'.
4. A grounding takeaway or mini-practice
Try this:
Tonight, switch off the phone for five minutes. Close your eyes and imagine your body as shimmering particles of light. Breathe, smile, and ask, “What would feel most authentic for me tomorrow?”
Jot down whatever arrives—then promise yourself you’ll take one tiny step toward it when you wake.
5. Sign-off (invite connection)
Thank you for reading my very first post. I’ll be back with reflections on healing, spirituality, and the simple art of Being—served with a side of laughter and the occasional bee emoji.
Until then, keep buzzing in your own beautiful way.
With love,
jo Bee
